We are also dropping support for the ancient IE6 browser. As a web development consultant this has been an ongoing battle and being that CSS isn’t fully supported and websites are leaning towards xhtml/css layouts it would only do our customers justice to encourage them to upgrade. We gladly join you in the IE Death March, heck not even Facebook supports IE6!! –todd wilson

SVG Online

Rob of SVG Online says:

I am dropping support of IE6. If a customer really wants IE6 support, they will be paying for the time it takes to develop for IE6.

My site no longer lets IE6 users in, instead it gives them reasons why and links to upgrade or go for another browser.

I have also recently posted a blog, from which you were linked by a reader.

Nice site, I am with you on this one for sure! –Rob

Quero Transporte

Paulo of Quero Transporte says:

Hello,

I’m dropping IE 6 support on my website, using conditional comments asking the users to upgrade, and offer no working features to the IE 6 users, since August 2008.
My other website http://www.macumbaonline.com also shows a nasty warning (it’s a humor website) on IE 6 users, and I didn’t care about the PNG support on websites, since I’m really decided to drop IE 6 for good. If the users want to receive a bad browser experience, with an ugly and greyish website, they can do it, but I got my hands cleans!
Death to IE 6!!

Thanks –Paulo

Re-plumbing perfectly good websites to make them work in Internet Explorer 6 (and even 7!) costs us a huge deal of time. We give a discount to all our new clients if they do not require us to support Internet Explorer 6! –Unc Inc
