Cybersteps

Bryan of Cybersteps says:

Cybersteps site will cease to support IE6 by June 2008. We’re hoping that by then less than 10% of the users will still be using it (and that includes the thousands of developers who use it to check sites). –Bryan Meadan

I have just (at last!) dropped IE 6 support on my site. It now displays a blue screen of death with a link to this site if the visitor is viewing my site using my worst enemy. –Clinton Montague

Ideavia

OMA of Ideavia says:

Hi! We’ve stopped developing for IE6 this year. Now we show a message for IE6 users urging them to upgrade in order to browse modern sites. For example: http://www.elcafe10.com
(the message can be seen if you have IE6 installed through “MultipleIEs” of if you just spoof your “user-agent”). –OMA

New Focus

John of New Focus says:

Agreed the web development world has already put enough effort into this. I’m not doing anything deliberately to break IE 6 but from now on my changes will be tested for standards compliance and in current version browsers. No more specific IE 6 testing for me. –John Patrick

Félicien’s Die IE Script

Félicien says:

I have created a PHP script that pushes users to switch to a relevant browser. It works as follows: A user triggers her browser to ask for your page (across the Web). The page is different depending on the user agent. A message only shows on the web page only if the client uses a “bad” browser. The message can be anything. By default it proposes to switch to Firefox.

The script is free to be re-used. –Félicien Breton

SVG Graphics

stelt of http://svg.startpagina.nl says:

As IE doesn’t support SVG natively and all other browsers do, i like your initiative. –stelt

Not sure what SVG is? Wikipedia to the rescue!

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is a family of specifications of XML-based file format for describing two-dimensional vector graphics, both static and dynamic (interactive or animated).

The SVG specification is an open standard that has been under development by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) since 1999. SVG images and their behaviours are defined in XML text files. This means that they can be searched, indexed, scripted and, if required, compressed. –Wikipedia

You can read what the W3C says about SVG.

Coincidentally, SVG was initially released a month after IE6, so I posted this to both categories.
